Reformation of Siddha Medicine Education in Srilanka

Development of the Educational Sector is a subject that has received great attention and importance.

Plans and objectives relating to the development of the educational sector is extensively elaborated in the Mahinda Chintana covering five pages under the caption ‘Enhancing knowledge and virtues’ with sub-headings ‘National education program’, ‘University to all program’ and ‘Livelihood skills program’. Accordingly new multi-storied school buildings have been built all over the country and at the same time reconstructing and renovating the school buildings destroyed by the Tsunami disaster in the coastal areas. Laboratories, libraries, computer centres, play grounds and swimming pools have been erected in schools throughout Srilanka.

A New Event in the History of Siddha Medicine

It is the time to upgrade institutional education in Siddha System of Medicine. Yes, a number of new PG Degree and PG Diploma courses can be taken up in coming years as these courses are being designed to be implemented. The Central Council of Indian Medicine organised a two day workshop for this purpose at Trivandrum on 18th-19th of this month.

esiddha launches DVD on Siddha Ornithology

esiddha launches the first DVD-video on Siddha ornithology (Science of birds) which depicts the birds cited in siddha medicine literatures. This is one of a very first work on the digitalisation of siddha literatures. this DVD is helpful for the students, teachers and doctors of siddha medicine and public also to explore the birds they never saw!

This DVD is coming with the pictures, scientific classification, sounds of the birds, their behaviour and siddha medicinal uses.

The launching cermony will be held at Chennai on 11.09.2008.

We hope that this DVD can break the grounds of the concepts in siddha medicine.
